One more dengue case reported in Gurgaon

One more dengue case was reported from Gurgaon today, taking the total number to five.

The new case was reported from Badshahpur locality. According to the health department officials, Vikram, a 35-year-old resident of Badshahpur, tested positive for the mosquito-borne dengue haemorrhagic fever. Dr Pradeep Kumar, district malaria officer, said, “Vikram was admitted to a private hospital, but was discharged on August 13.”

Three cases of vector-borne disease were reported last week in the city. A 30-year-old man from Bhondsi, a 32-year-old man from Naurangpur and a 17-year-old girl tested positive on August 7. Earlier, a 40-year-old man from DLF 5 had tested positive for dengue.

The health authorities claim that fogging was done around Vikram’s house and indoor spraying was also conducted in the area.

In 2017, 66 cases of dengue out of 521 suspected instances were confirmed in Gurgaon by the health department officials. Three cases of chikungunya and 48 cases of malaria were also confirmed last year.
