The police commissioner KK Rao on Tuesday announced cash rewards to 1,500 cops who exhibited exemplary dedication in tacking the traffic movement during the five hours of rains which inundated most part of Gurgaon.
The cash rewards were decided on the basis of the feedback from residents, commuters and senior officials. The police also took cues from the social media posts in selecting cops for cash rewards.
These cops did a commendable job when continuous rains led to severe water logging in the city. They helped vehicles to pass through the water logged roads with many uprooted trees on it.
The commissioner also recommended felicitation of 18 assistant commissioners of police (ACPs) to the director general for their extraordinary planning to ward off any chances for the repeat of 20-hour-long "Gurujam" which happened in 2016.
“Despite being injured while discharging their duties, they held their ground and ensured commuters reached their destinations safely. In some places, they were even seen pushing vehicles that had broken down. They went beyond their duty to rescue people stranded on waterlogged streets or caught up in a snarl,” Rao said.
The cops were deployed continuously for 9 nine hours without any break when the city was in the deluge.
“People were sharing pictures of police personnel discharging their duties with dedication and commitment. I have forwarded the messages to the teams concerned for their courageous work,” Rao said.TAGS: Gurgaon rains / Police commissioner KK Rao / Gurgaon deluge / Gurgaon traffic during rains / Gurujam / Cash rewards to cops for handling deluge / Gurgaon news
