GB Nagar: Now, residents can register plants on forest dept’s mobile app

Now, the residents of Noida and Greater Noida can register their plants on the mobile application “15 August: Plantation 9 Cr” which was launched by the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department on August 14.

The district forest officer, Pramod Kumar Srivastava, told City Spidey that residents can use this application to register themselves and submit plantation details along with a photo for geo-tagging.

Through this application, the plantation drives will be having a record on Google. After the registration of plants, the government will support the maintenance of the plants. “Residents can download this application from the Google play store,” he added.

Srivastava added that people can register themselves using the mobile phone number, plantation details, and the species' details along with a picture.

Srivastava further said, “On Independence Day, around six lakh saplings were planted in the GB Nagar district. More than 5 lakh plants have been accounted and others are also under process. The geo-tagging of these plants is already going on.

“Geo-tagging will be done for all plants and trees which will be planted in future,” he said.

A resident of Sector-93, Amol Kumar, said that this initiative will help the forest department to register the plants and trees. “Now, the department will have the exact count of trees in the area. Earlier, they used to assume the number,” Kumar said.
