Antipathy towards pet owners reared its head again on Sunday when a senior citizen of Paras Tierea, a high rise in Sector 137, Noida, went to a park in the sector to walk his dog in the morning. He was resting on a bench when about 15 people from nearby societies surrounded him and ordered him to leave the park.

Mahendra Kashyap, the owner, claimed that when he refused he got beaten by a few people.

Kashyap immediately dialled 100 and called the cops. The police arrived and everybody was asked to come to Surajpur police station.

Shiv Kumar, the constable at the station, detained Kashyap for more than three hours, claimed Kashyap. He said, “The constable did not listen to me — instead he threatened to put me behind bars for 24 hours.”

Kashyap shot a letter to the SSP of Gautam Budh Nagar and complained against the constable and others.

Munish Chauhan, SHO of Surajpur Police Station said, “A senior citizen made a complaint that a few residents of nearby societies were not allowing him to sit in the park with his dog. While those who were opposed to Kashyap said the dog was pooping in the park. And the residents were thus unable to use the park.”

Residents also denied the allegation that the constable misbehaved with Kashyap.

There are eight housing societies in Sector 137 including Exotica Fresco, Paramount Floraville, Gulshan Vivante, Ajnara Daffodil, Paras Tierea and Purvanchal Royal Park.
