Indirapuram witnessed massive waterlogging and backflow of sewage water during this year’s monsoon.
To sort out the long-standing problems related to the sewage and drainage network in Indirapuram, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has appointed a Delhi based consultancy firm Min Mec Consultancy Pvt Ltd.
The firm will now be examining the existing network and chalking out plans to make it better. The GDA has asked the firm to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the betterment of the sewage, drainage and water network of the whole area.

GDA’s Executive Engineer of Indirapuram zone, Manvendra Singh told City Spidey that three months of time has been provided to the consultancy which started in September. “We will get DPR by December. On its basis, the authority will augment the sewer, water and drainage system in Indirapuram,” the letter read.
Singh also said that the time frame has not been set to complete the work which will be mentioned in the DPR. “However, we will try to finish the work before the advent of next monsoon,” he said.
Assistant Engineer, GDA, Vijay Pratap Yadav said that the need for augmentation work depends on the report to be delivered by the consultancy. “Firstly, they will study why the issue persists and whether the existing sewage and drainage infrastructure is at par to cater the requirement of area’s population,” he said.
City Spidey had earlier reported that Ritu Maheshwari, then GDA’s Vice Chairman had plans to hire a consultant to come up with a plan to improve Indirapuram’s sewage and drainage system.
Alok Kumar, President of Federation of Apartments Owners Association said that augmentation is urgently needed at the moment as the surging population is building pressure on the existing infrastructure.
“According to 2021 masterplan, Indirapuram was supposed to be a low population density area. But, since the authority has allowed more floor area ratio to builders, the area has been converted into high population density area,” he said.
“We need an efficient infrastructure and a technical survey from a non-partisan party will surely bring forth the anomalies with existing infra and a layout for its improvement,” he said.
