Mother-daughter duo found dead in Nyay Khand I; suicide suspected

A note was found in the room where the incident happened, but it does not mention why the duo took such a drastic step. It just asks for forgiveness from the younger daughter of the Bisht family.

Mother-daughter duo found dead in Nyay Khand I; suicide suspected

Wife and daughter of an HAL official, Balwant Singh Bisht, were found dead yesterday at their residence at Nyay Khand I, Indirapuram. His 28-old-daughter, Deepa Bisht, was a chartered accountant at a firm, while the wife, Prema Bisht (48), was a homemaker.

The incident was reported at around 9:30 pm yesterday.

The body of the wife was found hanging from the fan, while the daughter was lying on the corner of the bed.

Police said that Bisht called his wife several times, but she didn't respond. He then sent his brother-in-law to check. The house was locked from inside. The brother-in-law broke the door open to find both the wife and the daughter dead.

Shlok Kumar, SP City, said, “Prima facie, it looks like a case of suicide by hanging.”

Kumar further said a note was found near the bodies — it was an apology note to Monu, Bisht’s younger daughter. “Mujhe maaf kar dena Monu!” the note read.

“However, the note didn’t mention why they took such step,” Kumar said.

The bodies have been sent for the post-mortem.

The family hails from Almoda district of Uttarakhand and has been living in Indirapuram for more than 10 years.
