Eight societies in Sector 137, Noida Expressway, to host their first Durgo Utsov

It’s that time of the year again — when a cotton-balled sky and sheuli flowers make Bengalis outside Kolkata long for home. And for those who can’t be home, celebrations organised on campuses bring on the festive cheer.

For the residents of as many as eight high-rises in Noida Expressway, Sector 137, things will be a little more special this year, as they jointly celebrate their first Durgo Utsov.

Most started living in these high-rises since the last two-and-a-half years, and this would be the first occasion when people of all these societies would gather at one place to mark the arrival of Devi Durga. It will be an occasion to forge new bonds, feel many.

The celebrations will happen in the central park, which is surrounded by eight high-rises, with nearly 10,000-12,000 families.

These eight housing societies include Poorvanchal Royal Park, Supertech Ecociti, Logix Blossom County, Paras Tierea, Ajnara Daffodil, Paramount Blossom County, Exotic Fresco and Gulshan Vivante.

Kinshuk Gupta, one of the Puja Samiti members, said, “We have been living here for last two-and-a-half years, but are still not familiar with our neighbours, who live in the same building or even the same floor. This Navratri will give us an opportunity to come together and get to know each other.”

Gupta further said, “We will organise different socio-cultural programmes that would attract people of all communities and not just Bengalis.”

There will an interesting line-up of activities during all the nine days, such as rangoli-making,  solo and group dance of children, drama and others.
