Dwarka, Sector 12: An MLU as good as new

Renovation work at the Mixed Land Use (MLU) in Pocket 2, Sector 12, Dwarka, is on in full swing these days. Residents and shopkeepers are particularly happy as the sewer is also being repaired.

According to DDA officials, work started last week and is slotted for completion in a month.

The market floor is also set to get an overhaul, with interlocking red-and-white tiles. Suresh Goel, executive engineer, DDA, said, “The triangular tiles will give the market a good look. Old tiles will either be dumped or reused. The footpath in the area is also being renovated with similar tiles.”

Rohit Kumar, a shopkeeper at the market, said, “We were waiting for work to begin for a long time. I think the place is being renovated after five to or six years. DDA is doing a good job. I just hope they finish the work on time.”

As the market is a popular shopping area, residents are excited about the renovation. Anjana Sinha, a resident of Dwarkadheesh Apartments, Pocket 2, Sector 12, said, “Earlier, the entrance was shabby and stinking. The area will not only look beautiful now but will also be clean.”

Umesh Kala, vice-president of Gangotri Apartments, Sector 12, said, “This is a local favourite. I hope DDA does a good job.”
