A young couple was found hanging with the ceiling fan inside their house in Omicron-3 sector of Greater Noida on Thursday morning. Police said that both the man and the woman were already married to some other persons but were into a live-in relationship with each other.

Police said that the deceased have been identified as Gaurav Dhama and Preeti Chepyana. Both of them were found hanging with the same ceiling fan inside their rented house in Lotus Welfare society.

According to police, the bodies were first spotted on Wednesday night by a neighbor who had gone to their house to get a gas cylinder. He immediately informed Gaurav’s father who lives in Baghpat village. The father reached Greater Noida late in night and conveyed the information to police.

“After getting the information, a police team reached the spot and took the bodies into custody. The bodies were sent for the post mortem, reports of which are awaited” said Vineet Jaiswal, Superintendent of Police (rural), Gautam Budh Nagar.

“Gaurav got married to Chanchal around nine months back. They got divorced few days ago. Preeti, a native of village Suntur under Ecotech-1 area of Greater Noida, was married to Pradeep and had two children. She went missing from home on October 16th and a missing complaint in this regard was also lodged by her husband” a senior police officer said.

The officer further said that Gaurav had also posted pictures of his marriage certificate, divorce agreement and marriage photographs on his social media account on 16th October.

Meanwhile, Gaurav’s family members alleged that Preeti’s family members have killed both of them. They said that both of them were hanged to make it look like suicide.

“Prima facie, it appears that both of them have committed suicide, however, we are not ruling out the possibility of murder and are investigating all the possible angles in the case,” Jaiswal added.
