GB Nagar Authorities tell builders to hang cloth screens at construction sites

In view of the worsening air quality in Delhi-NCR over the past few weeks, the administrative authorities in Gautam Buddh Nagar have decided to start a collective plan to minimize dust coming from the ongoing construction works.

The Noida Authority, on Wednesday, directed all builders to hang screen made of cloth at all under-construction buildings to restrict dust particle. The Greater Noida Authority also issued a similar directive on Thursday.

After a review meeting discussing ways to combat air pollution in the city, chief executive officer (CEO) of Greater Noida Authority Narendra Bhushan informed that the officials from planning, health project, horticulture and urban service departments have been directed to be ready to tackle rising air pollution and insure that the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) is implemented at appropriate time.

“Officials have been directed to make sure that no garbage burning takes place in the region and all construction work-related processes stick to the specified rules such as construction material, transport and under construction buildings must be well covered,” Bhushan said.

Both Noida and Greater Noida Authorities have conducted a meeting with real estate companies and directed them to follow the norms of Environment Pollution Control Authority (EPCA) to control air pollution.

For their own contractors engaged in building roads or other structures, the authorities have issued directions that construction material should not be left uncovered.
