The autopsy reports have concluded that the deaths of 22-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman—who were found dead at a rented apartment in a Greater Noida based society under mysterious circumstances—occurred due to hanging a day before the deaths were discovered, the police said on Friday.
According to the police, the case seems to be of a double suicide, however, the circumstances are being investigated. No complaints have been filed yet.
The deceased, said the police, have been identified as Gaurav Dhama and Preeti Chepyana. Both of them were found hanging with the same ceiling fan inside their rented flat in Lotus Welfare society in sector Omicron 3 in Greater Noida on Thursday morning.
Preeti was reportedly missing since 12 PM on October 16 from Sunpura Village of Ecotech 3 area where she lived with her husband and two kids. Cops suspect that the deceased duo were in a relationship.
The investigation so far is indicating that the two committed suicide, said the police. “The autopsy report stated that the two victims died due to hanging on the same day the woman went missing. CCTV footage has been found in which the two could be seen riding on a bike on October 16, near Preeti’s house from where she went missing,” said Vineet Jaiswal, SP Rural.
Muneesh Chauhan, Station House Officer at Surajpur Police Station, said that the victims’ family have not filed any complaint regarding the matter but we are still questioning a few people including the neighbour who first discovered the death of two. “We are also questioning as to why the police were informed hours after the bodies were discovered in the night of October 18.
Gaurav and Preeti were found dead by a family friend of Gaurav who lived nearby his flat at around 8 PM after which he had first called his parents in Baghpat who then informed the Police and reached at the flat at around 4 AM in the morning.
Gaurav had shifted to Greater Noida three months ago after secretly marrying a girl named Chanchal who had allegedly divorced him three days before his death for suspecting an alleged affair.
