A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by the driver of her school bus while he was dropping her back home in Noida on October 9. The girl is a student of nursery in a private school in Sector 70, Noida.

A case has been registered with the Surajpur police station and the driver has been identified, said the police.

The girl’s mother, who is the complainant, said that the family had started using the school bus transportation as the school was far from their residence.

In her complaint, the mother said, “On 9th when my husband went to pick up our daughter, aged three years and nine months from the bus stop, he saw that she started crying as soon as she stepped down from the bus. When he asked her the reason, she sobbed and told him that the driver had removed her undergarments and touched her private parts.”

At the time of the incident the woman was at her office in Gurgaon. Her husband informed her about the incident as soon as she came back home. “I took her to another room and inquired about the incident. She started crying and recorded the whole thing,” alleged the mother.

The mother stated that she had immediately called the school principal and class teacher and shared the video on Whatsapp, but got no response. “The principal called me to the school next day. We had a meeting with the school management and administration and we were assured that strict action would be taken in the matter and also an FIR will be filed.”

The parents also alleged that for nearly 15 days they were given this assurance. “On October 23, we went to the school and asked for a copy of the FIR and driver’s termination letter. However, the school denied us the documents and alleged that they were not accountable to us,” said the complaint.

The parents then approached the police and filed a complaint with the Surajpur police station.

A case of rape has been registered against the unknown bus driver under the sections of rape (376A and 376B) along with sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO), Act.

According to the police officials, the driver has now been identified. “We are looking into the matter and will arrest him soon. If the school is also found at fault during the investigation, we will take action against the school,” said superintendent of police (rural), Vineet Jaiswal.

Meanwhile, the school said that they are coordinating with the police in this regard. The principal didn’t comment on the situation despite multiple attempts to reach her.
