The Chief Operating Officer of a multinational company allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the 19th floor of his Belvedere Park condominium in DLF Phase III, Gurgaon, on Sunday.

The deceased, identified as Vineet Whig, was the COO of the South-Asia division of Encylopaedia Britannica. Whig had been staying in B 82, Belvedere Park, with his father, wife, two sons and daughter. His eldest son is 19 years old and studies in college. His father, Om Whig, suffered a heart attack upon hearing the news and is now hospitalised.

The local police have found a suicide note in the deceased's pocket, stating that he was ending his life as he was fed up with himself.

On Sunday, the 47-year-old left his house for a morning walk and did not return for several hours. His family approached security to trace him and called up the local police informing them that Whig was missing. The security personnel found his body on the ventilator duct.

Residents and neighbours said that they knew Whig to be an avid photographer who was passionate about wildlife and music. They also said that they knew he was an extensive traveller who had visited several countries such as Japan, the Netherlands and South Korea. His photographs were featured in magazines such as National Geographic Traveler. They are unable to think of a reason why Whig took this extreme step.
