GreNo Authority’s inaction against pollution evident with roads full of dust

The Greater Noida Authority has failed to take ample action after the directions of Gautam Budh Nagar administration to ensure strict measures to curb air pollution. The district administration had issued directions after the Supreme Court’s advisory.

The Authority’s failure is evident when you visit the Noida-Greater Noida service lane. The road is full of dust. The amount of dust is so high that it can blind you at times when you are passing through this road.

The five thousand residents of high-rises in the vicinity are forced to live with this dust.

The high rises such as Panchsheel Green 1, Supertech Eco-Village 2, Ajnara Homes, Sky Garden, French Apartments and Cherry County are hardly 200 meters away from the this road.

Ajay Yadav, a resident of Panchasheel Green 1 Apartments said, “It has been more than two weeks since the air quality dropped to severe category. The Authority has failed to notice dust along the road. They have not done the much needed water sprinkling in the area.”

In an e-mail sent to City Spidey, Yadav claimed that the residents have complained to UP Pollution Control Board (UPPCB), Greater Noida Authority and District Magistrate office but situation remained the same.

What is more shocking is that the local authority is yet to find out the areas to take action. This has happened despite the launch of Union Ministry of Environment’s 10 campaign to monitor deteriorating air quality in Delhi-NCR.

As per the report, as many as 70 monitoring teams have been appointed across Delhi-NCR. Out of which, two teams are there for Gautam Budh Nagar.
