A software engineer with a multi-national firm was robbed of his expensive mobile phone at gunpoint in Sector 62, Noida last Thursday. The victim claimed that the robbers tried to loot his Audi too but he, managed to save his vehicle using presence of mind.
After the incident, police intensified patrolling in the area.
A resident of Prateek Laurel Apartments, Vikas Kaushik, was speaking to one of his friends on phone outside his office when an unidentified man approached him inquiring about some address.
As the stranger kept Kaushik engaged, suddenly another man emerged from behind and held a gun on his head. In the ensuing melee, Kaushik spotted a PCR van in the rear mirror of his car and accelerated the car pushing the assailants away.
He stopped some distance away to inform the police about the incident. But, by then, the duo, who had arrived at the spot in a white car, were nowhere in sight.
An FIR has been lodged with Noida Sector 58 Police Station under IPC Section 392 and according to Ravikant Prashar, station officer (SO), a manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits.
