The residents of Panchsheel Greens, a high rise society in West Greater Noida, on Sunday celebrated green Diwali inside the society’s premises.

The idea of green Diwali was coined keeping in the view of the current high pollution in the city. The pollution levels are expected to worsen after Diwali.

The celebrations started with drawing and painting competition involving kids. The theme of the competition was “Clean Environment-Clean Society.”

The selected artworks were exhibited at different places in the society.

The ladies participated in the Rangoli competition. Three ladies were honoured with green plants for their artworks.

A housewife, Bhumi Kshirsagar, who lives in Tower F, won the first prize for Rangoli. Archana Awasthi and Pushpa Ranjan were jointly selected for the second prize. Ishita Sharma and Salini Tripathi shared the third prize.

Later, more than a hundred sky lanterns were released in the air.
