One of the largest religious celebrations of people from Purvanchal, this year Chhath celebrations are to be held between 11th and 14th November.

Chhath celebrations, one of the largest religious celebrations of people from Purvanchal, are to be held over four days this year, from 11th to 14th November, with Surya Shashthi (main day) falling on 13th November 2018. The administration and various social organisations are busy improving provisions at all the Chhath ghats in Dwarka.

Talking about one of the biggest Chhath Pujas in Sector 8, President of Dwarka Palam Chhath Puja Samiti, Amrendra Singh, said, “It’s a mass celebration. Every year, the numbers are increasing. Here, at Sector 8, which sees the biggest crowd, the DDA turned its park into a Chhath Park. We have cleaned ghaats, and have arranged free cow milk and Gangajal. Priests will be available for the arghya during both evenings and mornings.”

“All the preparations have been completed. Today, we spoke to Delhi Jal Board for water supply to the ghaats. Our counters are ready, and volunteers are prepared to help out the devotees. Every year, about 10,000 people come to this Sector 8 ghat,” said Singh.

Dada Dev Mela Ground Chhath Ghat, Sector 8 DDA park Chhath Ghat, Sector 11 Chhath Ghat, Dwarka Dabri  Chhath Ghaat, Nasirpur Chhath Ghaat,  Chhath Puja Ghaat, Durga Park West Delhi will witness thousands of devotees coming together to pray to the Sun God.

At Sector 11,  Chhath Puja is being organised on a large scale by Dwarka Religious Social and Cultural  Association.  The construction of ghats has been completed — by tomorrow, everything should be in place.

President of the association, Robin Sharma, said, "Seeing the increasing number of devotees, we have increased the number of ghaats from 17 to 19.  The whole area has been covered with carpet so people can sit comfortably. There’s also a first-aid facility. This year, we are made set up a traditional havan bhavan."

Besides these major congregation points, pooja is also being organised on premises of various societies.
