Park in service lane, get your car towed away

Residents of gated societies in the city beware! Police will, henceforth, tow away your cars if found parked on service lanes.

The Noida Police have issued a warning to this effect in the wake of rising cases of vehicle theft in the city.

Elaborating on the move, Sandeep Singh, Circle Officer, told City Spidey that the residents should park their vehicles only in the parking lot of their respective apartments. Otherwise, it will be difficult for the police to differentiate between the vehicle belonging to a genuine resident and an outsider or an anti-social element.

“The erratic parking habits of residents,” he added, “are responsible for rising cases of car theft as they give an advantage to car lifters.”

There is an acute shortage of parking space in residential apartments. If a resident is allotted parking space for one car, he is forced to park his second outside the premises. As a result, many cars are found parked on the service lanes outside apartments.

Besides, with most of the apartments having no parking arrangement for visitors, their cars too are parked outside. Singh said residents have to come up with a plan for visitors’ parking within the campus of the apartment. If this is not done, the police will be left with no option but to haul up the vehicles and impose a steep fine on the defaulters.
