Being the only gurudwara across the area, devotees flocked to the sacred shrine to offer their prayers and seek blessings from the first Sikh guru.
In order to mark the 549th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, people from the Sikh community across Dwarka celebrated Gurpurab on Friday at the Gurudwara, located in Sector 11. Being the only gurudwara in the area, thousands of devotees flocked to the sacred shrine and offered their prayers to the first Sikh guru.
Besides, people from other communities too visited gurudwara and participated as volunteers in providing various services (sewa) like drinking water, langar and assisting visitors. Policemen were deployed to manage the traffic.
General secretary of Gurudwara Committee, Devender Pal Singh and vice president of Dwarka Forum, Arvinder Singh Chatwal shared complete details of the celebrations with City Spidey. "We have organised keertan darbars and langar for all the devotees. The programmes related to the celebrations will take place till 10 pm," said Devender Singh.
"Being the only gurudwara in Dwarka, people have come to offer their prayers and seek the blessings of Guru Nanak ji. Besides, a grand nagar keertan will be organised on November 25th under the supervision of Gurudwara Committee. So, people from different communities, RWA officials and others have come to witness this grand celebration and be part of it," A S Chatwal said.
Representatives from many RWAs and social organisations were seen volunteering on this auspicious occasion. People from Parmarthi, an NGO working towards a cleaner Dwarka, took the charge of keeping the premises clean. In addition to the grand celebrations at Gurudwara, community people also organised bhandaras at various places.
