Thieves entered a flat in Amrapali Silicon City of Noida’s Sector-76 on Thursday and fled with jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh and Rs 16,000 in cash.

The theft took place in the flat situated on the 15th floor of tower-Q, said the police. The owner of the flat, Arjun Singh, works in a hotel in Gurgaon. Thieves made their way into the flat in broad daylight at around 2.30 pm when no one was present at home.

Arjun said that at the time of incident he and his wife had gone to work. “The thieves broke the bathroom window glass through service shaft to enter the flat,” he added. Garima, Arjun’s wife, works in a private company in Sector 61 in Noida.

“Garima returned from office around 5.30 pm and as soon as she entered the house she knew something was wrong with all the mess around. The thieves had stolen ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh and around Rs 16,000 cash,” Arjun said.

He further added that CCTV cameras aren’t installed at the 15th floor but a resident had installed personal CCTV cameras outside their flat on 14th floor. “A questionable person can be seen roaming around in the footage taken from their camera. We have handed over the footage to police.”

According to the police, security guards weren’t present on the premises at the time of robbery because of the ongoing strike owing to a delay in their salary. “The security guards of the society haven’t been paid for the past few months. So there is no track of people entering and leaving the tower,” the police said.

Swetabh Pandey, circle officer 3, said that a complaint has been registered against unknown person(s). The police have got a CCTV footage in which a suspicious person can be seen taking the stairs.
