The upscale Madhuvan Apartments in Sector 82, Noida, went without water for 48 hours. The reason was a damaged pipeline.
The 300 families living in the apartments had a harrowing time. Noida Authority took two full days to respond to residents' desperate calls. It deployed personnel for the repair of the damaged pipeline only today.
Speaking to City Spidey, project engineer of the Authority, MD Pandey, hoped the pipeline would be restored by evening and that water supply would resume.
Ramesh Yadav, president of the RWA, said residents were forced to use groundwater extracted through a submersible pump in the two days.
He said it was Noida Authority staff that damaged the pipeline when they used a JCB for the construction of a community centre adjacent to the society.
Residents were forced to wade through knee-deep water in the society after the pipe burst.
