To battle winter fog and bring down the number of accidents on Yamuna Expressway, the speed limit will be capped at 75 km per hour from 100 km per hour from December 15. LED lights will also be installed along the expressway to improve visibility.

The speed restrictions will be in operation for the next two months till February 15.

According to an official of Yamuna Authority, “Speed gun cameras will be installed at 10 new locations. Drivers will be alerted about fog on electronic displays. Work on setting up the cameras is to start soon.”

Last year, in November, 20 or more vehicles had piled onto each other owing to dense fog.

Dr. Arunvir Singh, CEO of the Yamuna Authority, said, “Along stretches, where fog is most dense and visibility practically nil, speed will be capped at 60 km per hour. Apart from this, people will be made aware through pamphlets and other ways.”

In the event of an accident, immediate help would be provided to the injured. Yamuna Authority is going to tie up with nearby 15 private hospitals.
