In the wake of long pending transfer of Indirapuram to Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam (GNN), the officials of the committee set-up by the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) to expedite the transfer, met on Tuesday and surveyed the area.

According to Ghaziabad Development Authority, the transfer is expected to happen in a phased manner as GNN is reluctant to preside over the whole maintenance of Indirapuram at one go.

The sources within GDA suggested that they pushed for complete transfer but had to agree with the transfer in a phased manner.

According to the sources, GNN finds the infrastructure of Indirapuram not up to the mark and it is the main reason behind their reluctance in transfer at one go.

“Chief engineers of both the authorities met today and discussed the prospect of transfer. We also shared the maps with NNG officials,” said Manvendra Singh, Executive Engineer of GDA.

Currently, GDA has proposed for maintenance of drains, roads, street lights and collection of garbage from the area. However, approval of GNN on the proposal is yet awaited, a GDA official said.

Pramod Kumar Singh, Additional Commissioner of GNN told City Spidey that the Nigam is reviewing the proposal currently. “We will only be reaching conclusion by next meeting,” he added. However, he did not tell when the next meeting is scheduled.

A senior GDA official told City Spidey that the meeting happened on Tuesday was earlier scheduled on October 26th but got postponed as GNN officials did not turn up.

The process of handover has been pending for more than six years now.

In October, GDA Vice Chairperson had set up a six-member committee to expedite the process of transferring Indirapuram to GNN. The committee has three members each from GDA and GNN.
