In a crackdown on vehicles violating traffic rules and compliance with NGT guidelines, the Noida district administration took action against 24 vehicles.

Assistant transport officer enforcement of Gautam Budh Nagar, Prashant Tiwari, conducted the operation in Sectors 72, 73, 93, 12, 62 and 22, and DND flyover. The department fined driver found breaking the rules.

According to an official, as many as 12 commuters were fined for driving in the wrong lane and their licenses are being proposed for suspension. “In addition, three vehicles were fined for red light jumping and licenses of the drivers are also being proposed for suspension,” said the official.

The official further added that as many as nine vehicles were found overloaded, or did not have a valid insurance or pollution certificate and or did not have the mandatory retro-reflective tape norms installed. “Of these, the district department has seized three vehicles in Sector 62 D park,” official said.

“The campaign is being carried out according to the instructions of the district magistrate,” said Prashant Tiwari. “We are making sure that the vehicles in our area abide by the traffic rules. In case of violation, strict action would be taken against them including cancellation and suspension of driving license and even the vehicles will be seized.”
