Noida, Antriksh Forest: News anchor dies after falling from fourth floor

A 25-year-old news anchor with a national news channel died after allegedly falling from the fourth floor of a flat in the Antariksh Forest Apartments in Noida's Sector 77 on Friday early morning.

The woman, Radhika Kaushik, was from Jaipur and was living in a rented flat in the society’s N-tower.

According to the police, Radhika wasn’t alone in the house at the time of the incident. Her senior colleague Rahul Awasthi was also present. “We have recovered bottles of alcohol from the apartment,” police said.

The incident took place at around 3.30 am, said the police. They were informed about the incident by the security guard of the tower.

Girija Shankar Tripathi, SHO of Sector 49 police station, said that at the time of the incident Rahul was present in Radhika’s room. The police is questioning Rahul.

“Right now, it is very difficult to say whether it was a suicide or a murder or an accident. The body has been sent for autopsy. Our forensic team also visited the spot and the reports are awaited,” Tripathi said.

Meanwhile, Yogesh Kaushik, Radhika’s father refuted the accusation that his daughter consumed alcohol. “Rahul brought the liquor and killed my daughter. He is trying to confuse the police by making up this story,” Kaushik said. “I want justice for my daughter.”

The police sources added that during interrogation, Rahul has told them that he had gone to Radhika’s flat at around 10.30 pm on Thursday night. Radhika had left the office earlier at around 9 pm and they both had decided to have dinner together at her flat. “He has also refused the allegation that they were drinking alcohol,” police said.

“We have registered a case against Rahul under the IPC Section of 302 (Punishment of murder),” Tripathi said.
