Alarmed over deteriorating law and order situation, residents of Sector 92, 93A and B met SP (City) Dinesh Yadav, at the Eldeco Utopia club house in sector 93A on Wednesday with a plea to enhance security in their locality. Representatives of Eldeco Utopia, Grand Omaxe, Omaxe Forest, Silver City, Supertech Emerald Court, Parsvnath Prestige and ATS Village were present at the meeting.

The residents of the area are particularly apprehensive about their security after a recent incident where a software engineer, Akhil Chadha, was robbed of his car, brutalised and shot at by unknown assailants just 500 metres away from the Grand Omaxe apartment.

Apart from the SP, SHO of Phase II Police Station, Shailendra Pratap Singh, and other police officials took part in the discussion. After the meeting, Surya Prakash, a resident of Grand Omaxe, told City Spidey that residents took up major security concerns with top cop.

President of Eldeco Utopia RWA, Captain (Retired) Gautam Bhalla, said, “Residents have installed CCTV cameras at the entrance of their apartments to monitor movement of vehicles. But since the roads passing by these apartments do not have remote surveillance, the activities of antisocial elements operating in the areas cannot be monitored."

SP City Yadav assured the residents of all possible measures to ensure security for the residents. He said under a provision, 15 police posts could be built in the city. Nine posts are ready and will be operationalised shortly. One police outpost will be set up near Grand Omaxe Apartment in sector 93B. Besides, police patrolling will also be intensified in these areas.

In return, Yadav sought cooperation of the residents to verify security guards, maid servants, domestic helps and car cleaners working in their respective apartments.

Secretary of Eldeco Utopia Apartment, Manish Pratik, said, “Security won’t improve until promises made by the SP City are met.”

As for installation of CCTV cameras, he said, “We will review the situation before taking a call on the issue. But the areas of prime concern are the main road and the service lane which the law enforcing agency has to take care.”

The issue of encroachment also came up for discussion during the course of the meeting. Several illegal eateries have come up alongside the roads adjacent to the apartments. The residents demanded immediate action by the police against these squatters.
