Residents of Prateek Laurel, Sector 120, Noida, will have to put up with burglars prowling outside their apartment after dark as Noida Authority is yet to invite a fresh tender for lamps in streetlights.

The tender has been delayed by nine months due to cancellation of tenders awarded in the past. HS Bhadauriya, purchase and store officer of Noida Authority, said, “This is the fourth consecutive time that the Authority will float a fresh tender for this procurement. The previous three tenders awarded to three different private contractors were cancelled as their firms were blacklisted.”

Noida Authority invites a tender for procuring electric bulbs, lamps and tube lights once in six months. Due to frequent cancellation of tenders, these items are not in stock with the Authority.

Pramod Kumar, junior engineer, Noida Authority, said, “There are sites in Sectors 43, 120, and 122 where poles have been placed, but bulbs or tubes could not be installed due to their acute shortage.” He added that the grievance cell of Noida Authority has been receiving frequent complaints from residents of different sectors, but he could not address them as the required material is unavailable.
