A delivery boy’s bag containing items worth Rs 1.5 lakh was stolen from outside the front gate of Princess Park, a high-rise in Indirapuram’s Ahinsa Khand II, on December 28, 2018. However, the victim has alleged that the police kept delaying registering an FIR in the case and only filed one on Thursday after he met the senior officer of the area.

28-year-old Ankur Kumar, who works with the courier company Elasticrun Pvt Ltd, said that he had parked his bike outside the front gate and went to deliver a courier inside the society. But when he returned, his big black bag was missing from the bike.

“The incident took place in a span of fifteen minutes. I entered the society at around 2 pm and came out at 2:15 pm,” he said.

In the CCTV footage submitted to the police, Kumar said that an unidentified man could be seen stealing the bag. “He used a sharp tool to cut the bag and drove away,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kumar alleged that the police took a week to register his FIR. “They kept ignoring my request to register the FIR. Only after I met the station house officer (SHO) of Indirapuram, the FIR was registered,” he added.

However, SHO of Indirapuram, Nazeer Ali Khan, refuted this. “The FIR was registered immediately after the victim met me. There was no delay,” he commented.

When asked why it took seven days after the incident to register the FIR, he did not answer and disconnected the call.

Kumar said that his biggest worry is that if the bag isn’t recovered, the courier company will ask him to compensate the worth of items stolen from him (Rs 1.5 lakh). “The company will deduct this amount from my salary every month,” he added.

Kumar lives in Arthala area of Mohan Nagar and has been working as a courier boy with Elasticrun Pvt Ltd for the past couple of years.
