Residents of Jaipuriya Sunrise Greens organised a hawan and bhandara inside the society to mark the occasion of first Sunday of New Year. For the last 10 years or so, the society has kept up with this tradition.

"We celebrate the first year of each Sunday with hawan and organise a bhandara and some philanthropic work," said Suman Pal, president of RWA of the society.

The hawan was done following Arya Samaj rituals.

"We do it every year to wish for abundant health, prosperity and peace in our lives. But besides chanting Gayatri Mantra, we pray to the nature during the hawan," Pal said.

Speaking on the tenth year of the tradition, SK Chaudhary, one of the residents associated with the start of the practice, told City Spidey that the entire preparation is looked after by a group of senior female residents.

"This year we donated 40 blankets, and over 700 residents gathered and did hawan and bhojan together," Chaudhary added.
