The team of the newly-elected general body of Dwarka Forum met chief engineer RK Singh on Thursday and gave him a copy of the issues related to civic amenities which are bothering the residents of the sub-city. 

The members of the team, during the meet, discussed several issues that come under the jurisdiction of civil, horticulture and power department.

General secretary of the Dwarka Forum and resident of Sector 8, AS Chatwal, told City Spidey, “Civil issues related to vacant plots, which are becoming dumping ground for debris, garbage and dwelling place for miscreants, were raised. Besides, it was suggested that repairing of all broken roads particularly ones adjacent to Palam Flyover be done at the earliest. Apart from this, issues related to drains, construction of  local shopping centre as already earmarked by the DDA, construction of broken boundary wall, gates of all parks and encroachments taking place in Sector 4, 5, 6, 10, 11 and 12 were discussed at length.”

Issues related to the power department such as replacement of broken and rusted street light poles, sodium bulbs with LED lights and its regular maintenance, were also taken up. In addition to that, it was suggested that the horticulture department maintain all the parks, prune the trees on the roadside regularly to keep Dwarka clean and green.  

President of Dwarka Forum Sushil Kumar said, “We have asked for a Nodal Officer for all the issues related to the DDA. Chief Engineer has agreed to the proposal and assured that superintending engineer will be made the Nodal Officer soon. On our proposal to depute a DDA Officer to have discussions with Deputy Commissioner on DDA and SDMC common issues,  he assured that Executive Engineer (WD-8) would join us for such meetings with DC (Nazafgarh Zone).”

During the meet, RK Singh asserted that roads adjacent to Palam Flyover will be repaired at the earliest. Similarly, he stated the issues related to encroachments, drains will be solved soon and trees will be pruned. Singh further said the issue of DDA's market plot with the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), will be taken up on a priority basis. Besides, he had directed the officials concerned to look into the matter related to parks and construction of boundary walls to protect govt lands and shops.
