In order to pay homage to the head constable who died in a hit-and-run recently, cops across Dwarka have started a safety and security campaign as they could be seen holding banners and posters, requesting commuters to cooperate with them in security check instead of ‘crushing them to death’ while doing their duty!

ACP Rajender Singh said, “After all, it is our duty to provide safety and security to the police personnel who work on roads round the clock. I am happy the community people in Dwarka have joined hands with us in spreading this message.”
Moreover, RWAs are writing letters to each other and also the authorities concerned highlighting the mishap that occurred recently, requesting them to give due honour to the deceased cop.
General secretary of the RWA, Studio Apartments Sector 16B, Ramesh Numukshu said, “The death of head constable Guljari Lal has put all of us in shock. We are trying our best to help other police staff too. Since he died doing his duty on road, I have written to the Delhi Police, CM and PM and also the Home Minister to give him an honour like a martyr.”
Besides, social organisations too are exchanging the message in order to provide monetary support to the family of the deceased constable.
Smita Khurana, a resident of Sector 12 said, “Even a rupee each from all of us would be a huge support to them. I have spread this message on our various community groups.”
While talking to City Spidey about the issue, Rejimon CK, a member of Dwarka Forum said, “We all must take this incident seriously and co-operate with those who keep us safe and secure. We are just sensitising people on the subject.”
Guljari Lal, head constable of Sector 23 police station, aged 52, died after getting crushed under a barricade that was hit by a speeding car at Sector 21 picket on January 8. The errant driver was later arrested.
