Gurgaon to get NCR’s biggest flower market next year

The Haryana Marketing Board and Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority is planning to develop the National Capital Region’s biggest flower market in the next year and a half.

As per a report in TOI, the state government is mulling to sign a pact with the Netherlands to develop flower market.

The land allotment for the project has already been finalised in Sector 52 in Wazirabad. A total of 10 acres of land will be used for this purpose.

Haryana agriculture minister OP Dhankar told TOI that the new flower market will be of international standard. He informed that the government is already having talks with the Netherlands regarding the development of the flower market.

Dhankar said that the agriculture minister of the Netherlands had visited India regarding the talks. He added that the new flower market will take cues from the Royal Flora in the Netherlands which is the world’s largest flower conglomerate with market.

As per report, the market will have the places for the display, auction and sale of flowers. The market will be fully equipped for display, sorting, storage and cooling.

The new market will be one of its kind in India with places for flower shops and seminars.

Advanced technologies will also be used to facilitate effective management of flower sales inside the market. The demand and supply will be closely monitored with help of the technology.
