The Noida Authority on Monday announced the budget of Rs 5800 crore for the financial year 2019-20. The budget has been announced ahead of this year's general elections. The Authority announced the budget before the imposition of the Section 144 in the country.

An official of the Authority informed, “Rs 2,000 crore has been allocated for the work related to the engineering department. For civil works, Rs 1474 crore has been allocated.”

Besides, the Authority allocated a sum of Rs 1069 crore for the Jewar airport project.

As far as the work related to Jal department is concerned, the authority allocated Rs 300 crore. Rs 50 crore was allocated for the works related to cleanliness under the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’.

“This amount will be spent on initiatives related to the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission.’ The focus of this budget is to make Noida a clean and pollution-free,” said an official.

In 2016-17, the Noida Authority allocated a budget of Rs 9,000 crore, but it could spend only Rs 3,900 crore. In 2017-18, the budget was set at Rs 8,070 crore, but owing to slow work only Rs 3,500 crore was spent.

Last year, the Noida Authority announced the budget of Rs 4,350 crore but the Authority has increased the budget for the financial year of 2019-20.
