The RWA team at Samriddhi Apartments in Sector 18B of Dwarka screams empowerment — it’s an all-women governing body!
The present team took charge in January 2018, with Dr Darshana Rani as its president.
Speaking on the all-women team, Rani, says, “To move to bring in women was decided in the general body meeting earlier. And thankfully, we were strongly backed, as most of the first owners are women in the society. We won and formed the team. Now, we have completed one successful year carrying out several welfare works inside the society.”
Within a year, the working of the society improved, reinstating the faith of the residents of the society.
“We made the security system better, improved greenery inside the society, raised several civic issues with the civic bodies, managed to stop unauthorised construction and encroachment. So, people now trust that women could manage better,” explains Rani.
Being an all-women team, there’s a strong sense of camaraderie within the group.
The women residents of the society and maids too feel more comfortable in sharing their problems with the management, which improves the quality of functioning.
Authorities, too, are forced to notice when they confront an all-women team, concedes RWA vice president, Asha Kochar.
