A resident of high rise society was duped by a fraudster of Rs 63,000 after promising to give job at an IT company at Noida. As per the police, the victim was identified as Mohit Kumar (23) who is a resident of Amrapali Zodiac in Sector 120. Mohit informed the police that he got call from the fraudster on March 4. The caller introduced himself as Akash from a job portal. “I was lured by the offer as I was looking for job for a long time,” said the victim. In the complaint, the victim has mentioned that the fraudster had asked him to deposit registration fee of Rs 2,500 online. The victim immediately transferred the amount. Then, the fraudster asked him to transfer Rs 15,000 for interview with an IT firm which he also did. The victim informed that he was asked to transfer the money on five more occasions. He responded on each of the occasions. He was promised that he will get an offer letter from an IT company within 4 days. “But, when I did not receive any letter after five days, I called on the same number but the number was switched off,” he added in his police complaint. Police said that they have lodged an FIR against unknown person on the basis of the complaint under the IPC section of 420 (cheating) and the case will be referred to the cyber cell for the investigation. “Youths should remain careful against these types of calls and cyber crimes,” police added.
