From now onwards, the residents of Ghaziabad would have to disclose their party plans to district authority if it is likely to be attended by 100 or more guests. Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) has issued a notice addressing the residents to seek their permission before organising a get-together so that the waste can be managed accordingly.

The notice also includes caterers and tent operators besides the party hosts.

“It is mandatory for the organisers to make arrangements for the segregation of the waste generated,” said municipal commissioner Dinesh Chandra in the notice.

In the notice, GMC cited the implementation of solid waste management of 2016 behind their decision. The move has come after the State government meeting with several municipal corporations on solid waste management.

The corporations are given a deadline of December for proper implementation of the rule.

GMC has been asked to submit an action plan for the management of waste before the state government by the March end. It has also notified that the violators would attract a penalty if they fail to make arrangements for the collection and segregation of dry and wet waste during the event.
