The RWA president of Windsor Park, a residential society in Indirapuram, was allegedly beaten up by bouncers and security guards of the society on Monday.

Sudipto Pal sustained injuries on his face and was taken to a nearby hospital. He was discharged later. Atul Yadav, circle officer, Indirapuram, and Gorakhnath Yadav, station officer, Indirapuram, reached the spot after agitated residents gathered near the club house and informed the local police.

RWA members alleged that security guards and bouncers tried to stop Pal from entering the society. After Pal did not listen to them and went inside his flat, guards forcibly entered his house and beat him. They also alleged that the guards and bouncers damaged property inside his flat.

The police put persons from both the parties under preventive arrest (Section 151 of the CrPC Act). They were let off after they signed a bond at the court of the city magistrate on Tuesday.

What led to the scuffle was a long-standing dispute between some residents and the RWA over payment of maintenance charges. A group of residents had started collecting the charges, in spite of an existing RWA. The High Court, however, in a court case filed by residents, had ordered that the existing RWA should remain active and conduct its duties till fresh elections took place.

DK Maurya, general secretary of FedAOA, told City Spidey, “It was unfortunate that residents are clashing among themselves over issues of the society. We are already fighting against the lobby of builders and residents must stay united in such a situation."

Meanwhile, Brahm Singh, city magistrate, and Shailendra Singh, sub divisional magistrate, reached the society on Monday evening and advised residents to conduct fresh RWA elections soon.
