Crash site turns into tourist attraction!

The plane crash site near Dwarka has been teeming with people wanting to catch a glimpse of the fallen aircraft, take selfies with it and even touch it, as police finds it tough to control the crowd.

Crash site turns into tourist attraction!

It is not the first time that a second plane has crashed near Dwarka on May 24. With the IGI airport close by, aircrafts do fly dangerously past the residential sectors of Dwarka. And that's leaving residents worried.

But for villagers from around the area, the site of yesterday’s plane crash at Najafgarh has become somewhat of a tourist attraction.

Ever since the crash, those from the rural belts of West Delhi and Haryana have been milling in to catch a glimpse of the plane. Police officials had to cordon off the area as people were trying to get too close to the plane.

Where people saw a tourist attraction, vendors saw business opportunity, even as they sold packaged water bottles, ice cream, and fruit juice.

People across all ages were seen clicking selfies and making videos with the plane in the background. What started off with an atmosphere of fear for witnesses had now turned into one of curiosity and thrill for villagers. People came in cars, bikes and even cabs.

There was Vikrant, a two-and-a-half-year-old boy, who had only heard of planes in stories his grandfather had told him. Eighty-year-old Devender Rana had never had the means or the opportunity to even see a plane. Mukesh, a village woman who had helped rescue passengers, was thrilled to have a chance to even touch the plane.

“I am glad I could help the passengers,” she said. “This is the first time I’ve even seen a plane.”

A family visiting the spot from Kapas Hera border shared, “We have seen planes making emergency landings in movies. After hearing about the incident, we thought we should check out the place. It was a memorable incident for us.”
