Residents of Vasundhara Enclave miss the bus

Residents of Vasundhara Enclave have never been happy with the public transport in the area. The services of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and metro feeder buses are just for name sake.

Residents either take e-rickshaws to the nearest Metro station, New Ashok Nagar, 4 km away, or hire cabs. Nearly 25,000 residents are affected by the poor bus service in the area.

Residents had approached Delhi government several times to expand bus services from Mayur Vihar to Vasundhara Enclave. The problem, however, still persists.

There are mini-buses for Yamuna Vihar, run by private operators. But nowhere near suffcient.

"There are no DTC buses for South and West Delhi," said SC Bhatia, treasurer of Joint Forum, Vasundhara Enclave Group Housing Societies & Institutions. "A lot of residents commuting to Central Secretariat and Connaught Place use private transport. We had raised the issue with the transort officials but nothing has been done yet."

The residents have also demanded a Metro station at Vasundhara Enclave. They met Mangu Singh, chairman and managing director, Delhi Metro, in this regard.

"We urged Singh to divert Metro's Phase 3 line from Kalyan Puri to Vasundhara Enclave," said Dr Alok Kumar Pandey, President of Joint Forum. "That would have solved our problem, but he could not help us."
