GreNo Authority clears no OC was given for SKS School’s new building

On the question of parents whether occupation certificate (OC) was given to SKS School to run classes in an under-construction building, the Greater Noida Authority has replied that they have already told the school not to carry out any activity at the building as it is incomplete.

The official wrote, “The management of the school had applied for OC on December 3 last year. To which, the Authority had issued a letter with many objections. The Authority had questioned about the unavailability of NOC from fire department, complete drawing.”

Further, the Authority had also cited - incomplete toilet, flooring, electricity and sanitary fitting, door and window work - as the reason for denial of OC.

The SKS School has been under scanner ever since it notified the parents to start classes of new session at an under-construction building. The parents had immediately objected to run classes in that building citing safety of the kids.

They had protested in front of the institution alleging that the management is not bothered about the well-being of their wards. Parents claimed that the school didn't tell them about the latest development until someone raised a question about the facilities during the orientation session on March 30.

Following the protest by them, the officials of Greater Noida Authority had found during the inspection that the under-construction building was not in a condition to run classes.

The issue was brought to the fore by the joint efforts of some of the parents and members of Noida Extension Flat Owners Association (NEFOWA). They had raised the issue before the district administration and Greater Noida Authority.

However, earlier, the parents were assured by the school management that it has received all the required certificates from all government authorities.

Meanwhile, amid the furore, the parents informed that the school’s management had said that the new session will now start from April 15 because of elections on April 11.

Vijoy Konwar, one of the parents said, “The school’s management has postponed the classes and parents have been called for meeting on Saturday. But the question remains, if Authority has already said that this building is not ready to run classes then what step school management will take. It will be finalised in the meeting whether the classes will run in old building or in the under-construction building.”
