Dwarka RWAs organise police-public meet; discuss safety, security

Dwarka's major issues of safety and security were discussed in the police public meeting, Jan Samvad, which took place at Gokul Garden on Sunday. The meeting was organised by Dwarka Forum, a resident body ( RWAs and management of the societies), and the Dwarka Police in which hundreds of RWA and management representatives interacted with the team of police  comprising DCP Anto Alphonse, ACP Rajendra Singh, ACP Traffic VP Tomar, TI, Dwarka Archna Andley, SHO Dwarka South, Ram Nivas, SHO Dwarka North, Sanjay Kundu, SHO Dwarka Sector 23, Santan Singh Rawat.  

Problems related to traffic, encroachment, parking, chain snatching and open drinking in the parks were highlighted by the RWAs and they asked the police to look into it. Representatives of Brahma apartments of sector 7 raised the issues of the unauthorised garage and automobile service in front of the society and its gate. 

They requested the DACP and ACP to stop such activities as all these lead to huge traffic snarls and chaos in the area.  The subject of Neighbourhood Watch Scheme with the active involvement of RWA and the Prahri with the involvement of private security guards in patrolling with police was also one of the highlights of the meeting. 

DCP, Dwarka, Anto Alphonse made the community aware of the Nigehban Scheme of Delhi police. He said that through the scheme, Delhi police with the help of community make the area safer and keep more effective vigil. 

He said that adoption of the areas was going on by the social organisations, institutions and the community groups to install CCTV cameras and be a part of Nigehban Scheme. He appealed the social organisations and specifically Dwarka forum to come forward to adopt some area under the scheme. DCP praised the efforts of RWAs and the social organisations for getting involved in the effective community policing and supporting the entire system.

On the occasion, representatives of Dwarka Forum also highlighted the basic issues of Dwarka and asked the police to help them in getting their solutions. 

President of Dwarka Forum, Sushil Kumar said, “ We just asked the DCP and his team to give full support in keeping the area safe and secured.Besides that, we will be doing a joint survey with them in locating the places with dark spots, hidden signals etc to work upon. Stretches with encroachments and traffic chaos would also be taken on priority. We will start these things with them from coming week.” Sushil said, adding that a continuous follow-up would be done on all the topics discussed with the team of police.
