The District Magistrate of Ghaziabad, Ritu Maheshwari, has cleared that only those schools and colleges, which will be used as the polling booth or centres by the Election Commission, will be closed from April 9 to April 11. While the other educational institutions will be shut only on April 11.

Maheshwari took to Twitter to make this announcement just a day after the office of District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) issued a circular and had ordered all the schools and colleges in Ghaziabad district to be shut for three days owing to the general elections.

“Government/private schools/colleges in Ghaziabad to stay open on 9, 10 April; however, those government/ private schools/colleges which are polling centres and booths to stay closed on 9, 10 April. 11 April will be holiday in all institutions on account of poll day,” she tweeted.

However, the DIOS of another constituency in UP, Gautam Budh Nagar, which is also going to poll on the same day, had mentioned in their circular that the educational institutions in their area would be shut only on April 11.

Both Ghaziabad and Gautam Budh Nagar will exercise the first phase of polling in UP on April 11.
