The voting in the first phase of general elections concluded on Thursday with GB Nagar registering over 60 per cent voter turnout whereas Ghaziabad managed to record nearly 58 per cent.

People across areas like Noida, Greater Noida, Indirapuram and Raj Nagar Extension exercised their right to vote to choose the candidate of their choice. Besides, there were many first-time voters who participated in the biggest festival of democracy. 

- Earlier in the day, 96-aged super veteran, Col M M Bakshi of World War 2 vintage cast his vote.

85-year-old, wheel-chair ridden, a resident of Shipra Sun City inspired the other residents to go out and exercise their voting power and contribute in nation building.

- A man with a fractured leg turns out to vote.


- 55.20 per cent voter turnout at Ghaziabad till 5 PM.

In a noble gesture, Saloni Mittal and Hemant Tyagi, owners of Earth and Pots planting solutions based in Ghaziabad gifted Photolaca plants to first-time voters at poll booths in Indirapuram and Raj Nagar Extension.


- Noida police immediately clarified it has nothing to do with political party.

While voting was underway in Gautam Budh Nagar, a report circulated in the social media regarding ‘Namo Foods’ packets being distributed at the polling booths in Noida.

- Grand Omaxe's AOA has made arrangements of shuttle services (two e-rickshaws) to help residents cast their vote without bothering about commuting and parking.

- People turned out to vote in large numbers.

- Within half an hour from the start of polling, the queue extended to up to 500 metres.

- Most of them were found to have skipped their offices to queue up at the polling station - Manthan School in Sector 78.

- The residents, belonging to luxurious apartments in Sector 78 at Noida, were seen voting enthusiastically.

- Till 11 am, nearly 24 per cent voting was registered in Gautam Budh Nagar.

- The excitement was seen on social media with people sharing their selfies after voting. 

- People were seen helping each other at Junior High School at Bishrakh polling station.

- People started to gather in large numbers at 7 am in the morning.
