GB Nagar: Distribution of 'Namo Foods' packets sparks row; DM to submit report

While the voting was underway in Gautam Budh Nagar Thursday morning, a report saying that 'Namo Foods' packets were being distributed at polling booths in Noida, stirred controversy.

However, soon after the reports went viral on social media, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Election Office took cognisance and investigated the matter. The office immediately directed the district magistrate (DM) of Gautam Budh Nagar to look into the matter and submit a report on this incident.

However, Vaibhav Krishna, SSP (Gautam Budh Nagar), clarified the issue on Twitter by posting a video saying ‘Namo Foods’ were distributed but it has nothing to with any political party.

“Namo Food is a shop in Noida and it is an old food shop. Food was purchased from that shop to distribute to police personnel who were on duty but it was not distributed by any political party. It is just a matter of coincidence,” Krishna can be heard saying this in his video.
