Due to technical reasons, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will not supply water to sectors 47-57 and DLF Phase 5 areas on April 15. The Chandu Budhera water treatment plant (WTP) will be closed between 7 am to 10 am on April 15.

The plant is located along the Northern Peripheral Road — approximately 3 km from Basai water treatment plant at Sector 100.

The GMDA has informed the respective Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs) through an e-mail about the closure of the plant.

The GMDA advisory read, “All residents are advised to use canal water judiciously on Sunday (April 14) to avoid complete dry condition next day on Monday, when there will be no morning and evening supply.”

The residents will face difficulty with no water supply on Monday. The city has already witnessed increase in the water demand in last two weeks due to rising temperatures.

Speaking to HT, Sandeep Dahiya, GMDA executive engineer, said that the demand of water has increased by 25 to 30 million gallons daily (MGD) in last two weeks.

“In order to improve the water supply, we needed to upgrade Chandu Budhera plant and sector 51 boosting station,” he said. He also assured that the water supply will be back to normal on Tuesday.
