Noida: CCTV to the rescue after thefts in Kendriya Vihar-II

To curb incidents of theft and robbery in Kendriya Vihar-II, Sector 82, Noida, residents are installing close circuit cameras in the society.

Dr GL Jambhulkar, secretary of KV-II RWA, said, “Several cases of theft were reported from the society in March and April this year. These cases were taken to the Noida police, which counselled us on how to prevent such cases. The police also suggested to install CCTV cameras.”

Not only was the suggestion accepted unanimously by residents, but they also agreed to bear the cost of the installation. The RWA estimated Rs 25 lakhs for equipping 120 blocks and common areas, including a club house and the parking lot, with CCTV cameras.

There are three gates in the society and private security guards have been deployed at these gates. But, thieves have still managed to sneak into the society. According to residents, gate number 3 is the most vulnerable and thieves easily enter the society from here.

KM Rai, president of RWA, told City Spidey, “25 five CCTV cameras have been installed in pocket-1 of the society. Each tower of the society will have one CCTV camera at the entrance.” He added that installation of CCTV cameras is underway in pocket-7 of the society and will take around two months. There will be a central control room at the club house from where all activities will be monitored.
