Noida’s Shaheed Smarak, situated at Sector 29, was all lit up on Saturday evening as the residents and family members of war martyrs paid tribute to 38 soldiers, who lost their lives for the nation, to celebrate the 18th Dedication Day.
Lieutenant General GL Bakshi, chairman, lit the first candle at the onset of the dusk on the base of the cenotaph followed by Nargis Naqvi, wife of martyr, Squadron Leader IH Naqvi along with her children and grand children.
The kins of other martyrs, Lieutenant General SK Singh, CEO of Shaheed Smarak, Lieutenant General Surinder verma, Lieutenant General Jagdish Naraian, Brigadier Shashi Vaid, Chairman ARWA, and heads/representatives of societies of Arun Vihar and Jalvayu Vihar, members of Executive Committee of Sanstha, Mrs Jayoti Rana, Principal, Army Public School and her students; and citizens of Gautam Budh Nagar also paid their homage to the bravehearts.
More than 150 people gathered at the venue and participated in the ceremony with vigor and zeal.
