Residents complained that haphazardly parked rows of cars in front of their societies have turned the place into a nightmare.
After a long day at work, what do you wish for? Just reach home and hit the bed. But, what if you end up getting stuck in a traffic jam right in front of your housing society and daily have to navigate through haphazardly parked rows of cars just to enter the premises.
This is exactly what the residents of societies in Dwarka’s Sector 12 have been facing for a long time. Those living in Abhiyan Apartments, Vikram Nagar CGHS, Park View Apartments, Shubham Apartments and Indraprastha Apartments sometimes spend as much as half an hour just to reach the entry gate of their society as wrongly parked vehicles on the road have turned the place into a nightmare.
Commuters visiting the private hospital, school and community hall of South Delhi Municipal Corporation – all located in the area – park their vehicles on both the sides of the road, shrinking the traffic to a single lane.
Rajesh Tiwari, secretary of Park View Apartments, said, “The problem is getting worse day by day. The situation worsens during weekdays and especially during school opening and closing time. School buses and vans block the entire road causing long traffic jam. What if there is an emergency? No vehicle can pass through this mess.”
There are vehicles parked even on the footpaths leaving no place for pedestrians. “Where are we supposed to walk? And the worst part is that even after complaining about the situation to the authorities many times, no one seems to be bothered. There is no end to our suffering,” said Pankaj, a resident of Abhiyan Apartments.
The subject was recently raised in a police-public meeting oragnised at Gokul Garden in Sector 7 where ACP Traffic and Traffic Inspector of the area were also present. They had assured to resolve the issue but the residents say nothing has been done so far.
