GreNo Authority initiates action against illegal unipoles

The Greater Noida Authority has recently initiated slew of actions on the ground in order to make the city better for residents. The latest one is action against the unauthorised unipoles installed in the city. A large number of unauthorised unipoles can be seen at different places in the city.

Some of them are in very bad state and could fall anytime. It was required for the safety of the people living in the city. The residents were of the view that these unipoles should be properly maintained and taken care of effectively. It can prove dangerous for the people if it falls on them.

The Authority has also started its drive against the illegal encroachment done at the different markets in the city. A large number of vendors have extended their shops on the roads causing inconvenience for the people moving there.

Now, they will take necessary actions against these vendors to remove encroachments and make the area more conducive to the residents.

The recent development of drive against illegal unipoles have come after a group of members of Noida Extension Flat Buyers Association (NEFOWA) had in meeting with Greater Noida officials complained regarding rampant encroachment along the road outside many high rises.

Vikash Kumar, one of NEFOWA members said, “Encroachment along the road side and illegal unipoles have become nuisance here. Residents have been regularly complaining about it but the Authority hardly takes action.”

“Last time we met an official of concerning department and we were assured that anti-encroachment team will visit the site within a week. We are thankful that action was taken from the authority. But the question remains whether the authority will keep tight vigil all the time because once the anti-encroachment drive is over, they become active again,” added Kumar.

Recently, the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) had directed the Greater Noida Authority to eliminate the widespread dust and construction debris stored on the main roads and service roads of Greater Noida West.

The storage of dust and construction debris are very common in the Greater Noida West area. It badly affects the health of the people residing in the nearby areas.

The UPPCB had also brought the problem of broken roads to the fore. It said that repairing of the roads is a must in situation like this to combat the menacing air pollution.
