GB Nagar: DM asks for affidavit from schools mentioning compliance of Fee Act

Following many protests by parents against school fee hikes, the district administration of Gautam Budh Nagar has asked the all the schools to submit affidavit mentioning compliance with the Uttar Pradesh Self-Financed Independent Schools (Regulation of Fees) Act, 2018.

The district administration has sent a letter to all principals of the schools operating in Gautam Budh Nagar. In the letter, the district magistrate has written that there are many schools which are not complying with the Act.

All private schools have been directed to submit the affidavit to district fee regulatory committee within a week. “There will be tough action against the schools which will fail to submit the affidavit by 11 am an April 29,” letter issued by the district magistrate read.

The affidavit should have a detailed account of whether schools are following all the sections and subsection of the ordinance.

The district administration has also attached a copy mentioning the relevant sections. It was asked to the principals to mention whether they are following these sections mentioned in the copy.

The action will be taken in accordance of the section 8(10) of the Uttar Pradesh Self-Financed Independent Schools (Regulation of Fees) Act, 2018.

It is to be noted that the district administration had also asked all the private schools to adhere to the Act in November 2018. Despite these orders, many schools were still not following the Act and continued to arbitrarily increase the fees.

Meanwhile, City Spidey was informed that District Fee Regulation Committee (DFRC), which is headed by the district magistrate, along with six other committee members are likely to hold meeting on this important issue on Saturday.
